PURGATORY RESORT DOWNHILL COURSE · MSC ROUND 4 · AUGUST 27 TO 30, 2026
PREPARED FOR PURGATORY RESORT AND THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE · AUGUST 24, 2026
Mountain States Cup proposes two short, temporary deviations from the established downhill race line for Round 4 at Purgatory Resort. Both deviations sit on the open ski run, both exist to keep racers safe, and both are strictly temporary for the race weekend. The Durango Mesa Trail Crew has volunteered to rehabilitate any ground disturbance once the race concludes.

DEVIATION APPROX. 140 FTMAX APPROX. 40 FT OFF THE EXISTING LINESURFACE: OPEN SKI RUN
This is the section of ski run used for World Cup racing in the early 2000s. Racers leave the established line just above the enduro corner, cross the open run, and merge back into the trail as quickly as possible. The existing corner is a hazard for our youngest categories; this deviation lets riders as young as 10 bypass it safely.

An exposed conduit runs diagonally across the track directly under the lift, near where the Mini X tractor is currently parked. The race line moves slightly up the hillside to navigate around it safely, then returns to the established trail. The conduit's approximate location is marked on the map.
